2023 Kia Niro EV | Find it in Kingston

This year’s Kia Niro EV is a revamped, versatile, and good-looking option for anyone looking for an EV. This family vehicle comes in three trim levels; Premium, Premium +, and Limited. The entry-level Premium has all the basic features. The Premium + comes with two crucial additional features: a heat pump for warming and a wireless phone charger. The top-of-the-range Limited comes with all the bells and whistles and is packed with the latest technology.

Pricing for the Niro EV* starts at $47,883 for the Premium trim, $50,883 for the Premium +, and $55,883 for the Limited trim level.

Performance

All trims in the Kia Niro EV range use the same powertrain. They have a 64.8kWh battery that feeds a 201 horsepower motor that drives the front wheels. The Niro EV has 188 lb-ft torque, and the manufacturer indicates that the vehicle has a range of 407 km.

An added benefit is that the Niro EV supports DC Fast Charging. While charging at 350kW, the battery can be pumped up in 43 minutes, depending on the conditions.

Heat pump technology in the Premium + and Limited variants of the Niro EV ensure the battery is kept warm in icy conditions.

Exterior

The Niro EV has many exterior variations, especially in the Limited trim. When choosing the top-of-the-range trim, customers can add a sunroof, folding side view mirrors, LED fog and headlights, and split-chrome door handles.

The 2023 models sport an aero blade at the rear, designed to aid airflow under the D-pillar. This aesthetically pleasing addition is painted grey, black, or contrasting colour.

The daytime running lights have also come in for a revamp and now sport a contemporary new look inspired by a heartbeat. Not to be left out, the rear lights now have an eye-catching and dramatic vertical look.

Interior

The entry-level trim, Premium, carries little in the way of additional features. The Premium + adds an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, a heated synthetic leather steering wheel, a wireless phone charger, and a rear seat armrest incorporating cup holders. Moving up to the Limited trim, customers get synthetic leather seats, an electrically adjusted front passenger seat, LED interior lights, heated rear seats, air-cooled front seats, paddle shifters, deluxe foot pedals, and front safety windows.

The synthetic leather is environmentally friendly and is made from fibres extracted from eucalyptus leaves.

Technology

As with all Kia models, these vehicles come packed with the latest technology. Again, the Premium trim has the standard driver assist components, while the Premium + trim offers a wireless phone charger. The Limited trim is where the technology is in full effect with digital remote locking and starting with an app, upgraded audio system, a heads-up display, and an Electrochromatic Rear View Mirror.

Practical Use

With the hatch-back design, this vehicle is very practical. With 646 litres of cargo space in the rear and 20 litres under the trunk, there is enough space to satisfy any family.

This car’s four-door configuration makes it difficult to classify, and it could be seen as a hatchback, a wagon, or even a crossover. Still, whatever you choose to call it, it’s a vehicle that’s hard to ignore.

All pricing is based on Ontario MSRP and does not include taxes and fees. Dealer pricing may differ. Prices are subject to change anytime without notice.
